AUS vs ENG highlights, T20 World Cup 2024: Aussies bamboozle defending champions by 36 runs

Australia beat arch-rivals England in match 17 of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados on Saturday, June 8.

England needed to score 202 to win against Australia but all they could muster was 165/6. They had a terrific start at the top by Jos Buttler and Phil Salt. But in the middle overs, Adam Zampa turned things around and gave Australia a chance to consolidate the pressure and thereby win the match.

Earlier, asked to bat first, the Aussies went off to a flying start courtesy of Travis Head and David Warner. However, despite not a single batter crossing the fifty-run mark, they managed to put 201/7. Warner top-scored with 39 while Jordan picked two wickets for England.

English skipper Buttler won the toss and decided to bowl first. England made no changes to their playing 11 from their washed-out match against Scotland while Australia brought in Pat Cummins to replace Nathan Ellis from the Oman game.
