Tragic news emerged from Sydney’s trackwork sessions as sprinter Brave Mead was euthanised following a devastating injury on Tuesday.

The young gelding, a recent winner of the Listed Darby Munro Stakes, was preparing for the upcoming Group 2 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint at Randwick when the incident occurred.

Australian Bloodstock representative Jamie Lovett confirmed that Brave Mead sustained a severe injury, shattering a sesamoid bone, necessitating euthanasia.

With five victories in 12 starts and earnings nearing $700,000, Brave Mead showed promise on the track before this heartbreaking turn of events.
