Controversial AFL Legend Danielle Laidley Takes Centre Stage at Wyndham’s IDAHOBIT Event

The event will take place at the Wyndham Civic Centre on May 16, starting at 10 am. It will feature a flag-raising ceremony and light refreshments, creating a welcoming environment for all attendees.

One of the highlights of the event is the keynote speech by Danielle Laidley, a former AFL star and transgender advocate, who was born a biological male and previously known as Dean Laidley. Dean had an impressive career in the Australian Football League, playing a crucial role in North Melbourne’s 1996 premiership team and later serving as the team’s coach from 2003 to 2009.

Laidley encountered legal challenges in May 2020 when she was arrested and charged with stalking. At the time of her arrest, she was found in possession of 0.43 grams of methamphetamine. Laidley did not seek bail and later entered a diversion program, receiving an adjourned undertaking with no conviction recorded for the stalking charge. Additionally, a Victoria Police officer was charged with unauthorized access and disclosure of police information after leaking photos of Laidley dressed in women’s clothing while in custody.
