Wyatt surprisingly went unsold in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023 auction and will not be part of the T20 league. The doors aren’t completely closed on her and she can come in as a replacement player if any team wants.
If she isn’t called up, Wyatt will play his next top-flight game against Australia in June-July. England are slated to host Australia in a one-off Test, 3 ODIs and as many T20Is from June 22 to July 18. She is uncapped in Test cricket and is unlikely to be part of the red-ball team.
After the England-Australia series, she will be in action in the Women’s Hundred, scheduled to be played from August 1 to 27. After The Hundred, England are slated to host Sri Lanka in three T20Is and as many ODIs.
Wyatt has played 102 ODIs and 143 T20Is for England. She has 1776 runs and 27 wickets in the 50-over format. Wyatt has scored 2369 runs and scalped 46 wickets in the shortest format.
The 31-year-old has been part of BCCI’s Women’s T20 Challenger in past and was expected to fetch a bid in the WPL auction. The inaugural edition of the T20 league will kick off on March 4. It will be interesting to see if she gets a call during the season.
