Coldplay have announced a special offer for some fans planning to attend their recently-announced Australian stadium tour next year: Free tickets.
The British band, who announced a string of 2024 Australian dates yesterday after performing two Perth stadium shows over the weekend, revealed overnight that they wanted to make amends with fans who’d tried to travel to the WA dates from interstate but were affected by flight cancellations.
“We were really sorry to hear about the fans who didn’t make it to this weekend’s Perth shows because of two cancelled flights from Adelaide and Brisbane,” the band’s statement began.
“If you were booked to travel on VA721 on Wednesday evening or VA474 on Thursday evening and had a ticket / tickets for the Perth show, the band would like to offer you a free ticket / tickets for the 2024 Australian dates.
“Anyone affected should email email@example.com before 5pm AEDT on 28th November for info on how to claim their ticket(s).”
Fans praised Coldplay for thinking of those who’d missed out on their Perth shows.
“You guys are really kind, I love Coldplay,” wrote one fan under the band’s post.
“Nothing says welcome to Australia like a flight cancellation. Good on you for giving these people free tickets,” another fan quipped.
News.com.au’s Joshua Haigh was in attendance at the first of Coldplay’s two Perth shows on Saturday night – and called it “a masterclass in showmanship from both Martin and his bandmates … the rest of Australia can only pray that they decide to return soon because their concert is not one to be missed.”
Coldplay will bring their Music of the Spheres tour back to Australia in 2024 with shows on October 30 and 31 at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium, before heading to Sydney’s Accor Stadium on November 6 and 7.
In the announcement shared by Live Nation on Monday, fans were invited to register at Coldplay’s official website for access to the ticket presale, which will begin at 10am AEDT on Wednesday, November 29.
General ticket sales open up on Friday, December 1.
