A $100,000 payday would have placed you in the top 30 payout-wise at last year’s PGA Championship. It’s only Monday of this year’s PGA week and North Carolina golfer Jack Romans Jr. has earned all that without lifting a single club. All he had to do was buy a scratch-off ticket and watch the money roll in.

The Brunswick County golfer purchased the $2,000,000 Diamond Deluxe ticket from RM Mart in Sunset Beach and won a good chunk of change from the North Carolina Education Lottery. “I guess I was just in the right place at the right time,” Romans said. “It’s my birthday in a week. This is a nice early birthday present.”

After federal and state tax withholdings, Romans ended up with a grand total of $71,506, which will be more than enough for Romans to realize his one big dream with the money … new clubs.

“I’m going to get a new set of irons,” Romans said.

Well, Jack, we certainly have a recommendation or 10 for you when it comes to new irons.

He also said he plans to pay off some bills but golf comes first. He’ll get around to those bills down the road. Maybe.
