An Australian woman has warned others to ‘beware’ when vintage shopping after stumbling across a Kmart toilet brush holder being sold as a marble pen stand.
The Melbourne customer was browsing through a local secondhand store when she noticed the product with a $22 price tag.
However, the familiar Anko sticker on the bottom hadn’t been removed and she quickly realised it was a toilet brush holder.
‘I’m here just admiring this marble pen holder… marble pen holder they reckon,’ she said in a TikTok video.
‘Flip it over, Kmart toilet brush – literally a Kmart toilet brush but advertised as a marble pen holder.’
A woman was shopping at a secondhand store when she noticed a marble pen holder for $22 – however upon a closer look it turned out to be a Kmart toilet brush holder
The Kmart toilet brush set only costs $15 if purchased new and comes with a black brush.
In the TikTok video the woman holds the product and flips it over to show the dirty sticker underneath.
The video quickly caught the attention of the masses and thousands were left in disbelief. The clip itself was viewed more than 276,000 times.
‘Ahh yes vintage Kmart,’ one wrote, another said: ‘I love how they didn’t even bother to remove the label.’
‘A whole new fear of putting pens in my mouth,’ a third added.
‘At least they aren’t selling it for $125,’ someone else joked, referring to the drama between influencer Sopha Dopha and small business owner Shelby Sherritt.
One person gave the the store the benefit of the doubt and encouraged others to let the retail workers know.
‘Sometimes they don’t know. I’ve told a vintage store before that a wire basket was Kmart and they were mortified!’ she said.
