NRL injury list 2024: Every club’s casualty ward | Sporting News Australia

The 2024 NRL season is rolling along at a rapid pace with a host of injuries to key players rocking the competition. 

Mitchell Moses has been sidelined with a broken foot, Tino Fa’asuamaleaui has been ruled out for the season with an ACL injury and Kalyn Ponga has suffered a serious foot injury. 

Jayden Campbell has picked up another knee complaint, while the Dolphins and Warriors are juggling extensive injury lists just two months into the comp.

The Raiders are already without a host of experience with Jordan Rapana, Elliott Whitehead and Zac Hosking sidelined, and will now have to do without halfback Jamal Fogarty for a lengthy period.

Broncos injury news:

Brisbane have been hit by a double blow just as they prepare to welcome back four of their starters with Ezra Mam and Selwyn Cobbo ruled out of their clash against the Tigers.

Adam Reynolds injured his hamstring during Brisbane’s loss against the Storm in Round 5. He has been named to return in Round 8. 

Brendan Piakura has missed a month of footy after hurting his ankle at training on the eve of his side’s Round 4 clash with the Cowboys, but it back on deck this week. 

Payne Haas will return to action in Round 8 after missing the past five weeks due to a knee injury.  

Delouise Hoeter has battled his way back to fitness after there were initial fears about the young gun missing the rest of the year with a back issue.

Raiders injury news: 

Albert Hopoate suffered burns to his hands and arms after a cooking accident but could now be a late addition after making his return via the NSW Cup last week. 

Elliott Whitehead missed his side’s Round 4 clash with the Sharks due to a calf issue and will remain sidelined until next week. 

Jordan Rapana has been sidelined with a knee injury which he suffered in Round 5. 

Corey Horsburgh suffered a groin injury in Round 5 and isn’t scheduled to return until Round 11. 

Jamal Fogarty has undergone surgery after rupturing his biceps against the Broncos in Round 7. He is out for between 12-14 weeks. 

Zac Hosking was sidelined with a dislocated shoulder in Round 6. He could face up to three months on the sidelines.

Corey Harawira-Naera‘s future remains clouded. Ricky Stuart claimed the forward was facing early retirement after suffering a seizure last season and not returning to the fold for the rest of the year.

Bulldogs injury news: 

Chris Patolo limped from the field in the opening minute of his side’s Round 7 clash against the Knights with an MCL injury. 

Kurt Mann suffered a fractured hand against the Roosters in Round 6 with no time frame provided for his return yet.

Blake Wilson is still recovering from pneumonia with no return date provided.

Jacob Preston suffered a fractured jaw while attempting a tackle during Good Friday’s loss to Souths. He is expected to return after the club’s bye in Round 8. 

Ryan Sutton had surgery on his knee in the off-season with the England international scheduled to return in Round 12.  

Karl Oloapu will miss the entire season with a serious neck injury.

Sharks injury news:  

Braydon Trindall has been stood down after failing a roadside drug and alcohol test. 

Sione Katoa was sidelined for one week after being cited for a high shot in Round 6. 

Royce Hunt was injured while warming up on the sidelines during Cronulla’s Round 3 loss to the Tigers. He could return in Round 8 after being included in Cronulla’s extended squad.  

Jesse Colquhoun suffered a foot injury in Cronulla’s final trial and will be out indefinitely. 

Dale Finucane suffered a fractured eye socket in Round 3 in what proved to be his final game in the NRL, as he announced his retirement ahead of Round 8.

Dolphins injury news:  

Felise Kaufusi pulled up lame after making a break during the Dolphins’ clash with the Tigers in Round 5 with no return date provided yet. 

Connelly Lemuelu suffered a grade two tear of the medial ligament in his knee in the trials. He has been named in the extended squad for Round 8. 

Kurt Donoghoe has served a two-match ban for a hip drop tackle and will return this week. 

Herbie Farnworth avoided surgery on an AC joint injury but will miss four weeks of action.

Anthony Milford has been issued with a two-match ban for a late shot on Reece Walsh in Round 6.  

Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow pulled his hamstring against the Broncos in Round 6 and is expected to be sidelined for a month.

Tom Flegler has been ruled out indefinitely with a shoulder issue. 

Tom Gilbert suffered a devastating blow in the final trial of the pre-season when he went down with an ACL injury, which will see him miss the entire year.

Titans injury news: 

Keenan Palasia suffered a quad strain in training and after missing the past few games, he is expected to return in the coming weeks.

Phillip Sami missed a month after being the victim of a hip drop tackle and remains sidelined after being a late scratching in Round 7.

Jayden Campbell suffered a knee injury late against the Raiders in Round 6 and is expected to miss at least one month. 

Tino Fa’asuamaleaui suffered a ruptured ACL in Round 3 and will miss the remainder of the campaign.

Sea Eagles injury news: 

Nathan Brown was a late withdrawal in Round 6 and 7 due to a knee injury, but he’s been named this week. 

Josh Aloiai has served a one-match ban for a hit on Shaun Johnson during his side’s draw with the Warriors. 

Tof Sipley picked up a knee issue during the bruising draw against the Warriors in Round 6 and is likely to return in Round 9. 

Ben Trbojevic limped from the field with a hamstring issue against the Warriors and won’t return until Round 10.

Storm injury news: 

Sua Fa’alogo has missed the past month after picking up an injury in reserve grade. 

Tui Kamikamica was taken off early against the Bulldogs with a calf problem that will sideline him for a few weeks.

Tom Jenkins suffered a knee injury against the Dogs in Round 7 and will be assessed further to determine the damage. 

Tyson Frizell has been sidelined with a hamstring issue, with no return date provided by the club. 

Dane Gagai didn’t feature against the Bulldogs last week due to a calf issue but is expected to return in Round 8.

Jack Hetherington will serve a one-match ban for his dust up with Reed Mahoney in the tunnel last week. 

Kalyn Ponga suffered a Lisfranc injury in Round 7 with the star facing up to three months on the sidelines in a major blow for the Knights.

Warriors injury news:

Kurt Capewell will miss this week’s Anzac Day game against the Titans due to a throat injury. 

Chanel Harris-Tavita was a late withdrawal in Round 7 due to a leg injury with the utility still out. 

Dylan Walker will return from an ankle injury this week in a timely boost for the injury-plagued Warriors.  

Freddy Lussick has been hit with a four-match ban for a dangerous tackle in the NSW Cup. 

Bunty Afoa limped from the field during his side’s win over the Bunnies with a hamstring issue and is not expected to return until Round 12. 

Marata Niukore is out for two months after injuring his foot in training. 

Jazz Tevaga limped from the field in Round 6 after suffering a hamstring injury and is out indefinitely. 

Luke Metcalf left the field in Round 4 after suffering a fracture leg. It’s hoped by the club he will return later in the season.  

Demitric Sifakula has suffered an ACL injury although the club have not ruled him out for the year yet.

Cowboys injury news: 

Heilum Luki limped off during his side’s Round 2 clash with the Knights. The backrower required surgery on his ankle and will be sidelined for between six to eight weeks. 

Murray Taulagi suffered a hamstring injury in Round 6 which is expected to keep him out for a month. 

Jamayne Taunoa-Brown suffered an Achilles injury last year and will be sidelined for a large chunk of 2024.

Zac Laybutt has suffered an ACL injury against the Titans in Round 5, which will see him miss the remainder of the season.  

Coen Hess suffered an ACL injury in his side’s final trial match against Canberra. He will be sidelined for the season.

Eels injury news: 

Bryce Cartwright has been ruled out of his side’s Round 8 match due to a yet to be revealed injury. 

Mitchell Moses will be out for 8-10 weeks after undergoing surgery on a broken foot. He suffered the injury late in his side’s Round 3 match against the Sea Eagles.

Ofahiki Ogden suffered a pec tear while appearing in the NSW Cup. He will miss up to three months. 

Richard Penisini will miss the entirety of the season after suffering an ACL injury in training, while Arthur Miller-Stephen‘s has also been ruled out for the season with a knee injury.

Tyrone Munro is facing another extended spell on the sidelines after suffering a collarbone injury in Round 6. 

Jai Arrow has missed over a month of footy after suffering a rotator cuff injury in South Sydney’s opening match. He has been named on the bench this week.  

Cam Murray was ruled out of his side’s Round 6 clash after copping a high shot in the first half and failing his HIA. He is scheduled to return this week. 

Latrell Mitchell has accepted a three-game ban for an elbow on Shaun Johnson and won’t be available until Round 10. 

Alex Johnston limped from the field with a hamstring issue during his side’s win on Good Friday. He could be sidelined for up to six weeks. 

Campbell Graham is set to spend up to six months on the sidelines in a massive blow for the Bunnies after struggling with a sternum injury which also bothered him last year. 

Tevita Tatola could miss up to 12 weeks after undergoing surgery on a fractured foot.

Lachlan Ilias has suffered a fractured leg while playing in the NSW Cup. He will be sidelined indefinitely.

Dragons injury news: 

Luciano Leilua was a late scratching in Round 6 after suffering a calf complaint and remains absent.

Jack Bird failed a HIA against the Tigers in Round 6 and missed last week’s win over the Warriors. 

Corey Allan went down in training on the same day as Ronald Volkman’s exit news came out with the former Queensland representative suffering an ACL injury which has ruled him out for the year. 

Cody Ramsey won’t feature in 2025 according to Shane Flanagan as he continues to battle with illness.

Sandon Smith suffered an elbow injury in Round 3 which will see him sidelined for over a month. 

Spencer Leniu was issued with a lengthy suspension after being found guilty of racially abusing Ezra Mam. 

Billy Smith injured his ankle while playing NSW Cup and will be sidelined indefinitely after requiring surgery.

Tigers injury news: 

Junior Tupou suffered a suspected broken foot against the Panthers.

Adam Doueihi continues to recover from the third ACL injury of his career with the playmaker aiming to return later in the year.
